Tell Me Where It Hurts: Tiger’s Injuries Pile Up

Tiger's Injuries

After withdrawing from the final round of the Honda Classic and suffering through a Sunday 78 at Doral (the worst final round score of his career), Tiger Woods withdrew from the 2014 Masters to recover from a successful microdisectomy on a pinched nerve in his back.

His back is the latest entry on a long list of aches and pains that have plagued golf’s biggest star in recent years, begging the question: Is Tiger’s body breaking down?

We were all quite impressed when he won the U.S. Open - the toughest test in golf - with a shattered leg - a BROKEN LEG -  how amazing............................................  Back spasms?

Sports writers are basically low-life jerks who occasionally produce something worth reading.  They make a living making up stories that are unethical, immoral, based on their personal biases, etc.

The Masters this year is irrelevant.  TW is the GOAT.  Any fool who disputes that is worse than stupid.

Ya gotta love any Tiger story, it's a good conversation thread.  Have you ever read Phil's or Adams or whoever's thread....borrrring nothing to take pot shots or downright no 'comments'.

Where's the one about his balls hurting after Elin and the shots she took?

Why on earth did this mag come up with a list of injuries that no other athlete outside the sport besides Tiger was talked about? This sounded like a big deal of complaints.

Best golfer in the world. Would go on to hold every record he set out to achieve. His body wont let him

Arnie won his last major at 34 in 1964. Did anybody back then think it would be his last? Not a chance. Tiger is 38. Past performance does not guarantee future results.

Stop swinging so hard, you'll still hit it 300!

I still like his game. I wish he would just come back strong. Call me wrong, but let the guy rest....

Wasn't this posted a few days ago? Nothing left to talk about in the golf world?

Chronic steroid use will do that to a human eventually.

The unidentified golf professional who separated rising young players into Masters contenders and pretenders slam dunked Patrick Reed.  I respect Reed's three wins, however, the unidentified golf professional shared "the rest of the story" regarding Reed's personality.  He also made fun of Reed's "portly body."

Timmy F. does not like pro's talking negatively about the tour and tour players.  I understand why the professional is unidentified!

Be careful what you say about Tiger. The brain-dead Tiger zombies will attack you as a hater. It is similar to being called a racist when you criticize Obama. The names are designed to shut you up.

He's becoming a real puss% Many of us play through injurys, of course not at his level, but seems like he's becoming a fragile little sparrow. Doubt he will ever see another major win. JMHO!

Gotta love this stuff.  There are 144 professional golfers playing in the Texas Open, and the story about it has one comment.  And that comment is about the fact that there weren't any other comments.  Yet a story that doesn't even tell us anything new about Tiger generates 61 comments.  He's obviously not the best golfer right now, his world ranking is due to the five wins last year.  But he remains the guy who moves the needle the most, this comment section is evidence of that.

Wow, I sense a lot of jealousy towards Tiger because of his injuries! At least, that proves he is a human being and not a robot. For all the haters, why don't you accomplish what Tiger did during his 20's? He is the ultimate golfer of all times with an amazing feat!

yet still the world's number 1 player! nothing will make him fall!

golf.com,

Where is the first day summary of this week's LPGA event?

It is certainly interesting that a recycled summary of Tiger's past injuries generates some 50 comments while the first day summary of Mr. Trustworthy's round at the Texas Open entices only one comment.

Articles on Tiger's injuries create opportunities for many negative comments and much innuendo regarding the second greatest player in the history of golf.  Many such comments reflect a complete lack of class.

Frankly, should Tiger continue to play, he only need demonstrate flashes of his once brilliant game to continue to attract the press, patrons, and television audiences such as occurred recently when he shot a 66.

Bottomline is he doesn't play enough golf!  They have said that for years, and it's why Harmon dropped him.  His physical conditioning has been limited, and many think he was roiding up there for the short period he was dominant.  The bigger issue is he doesn't instil fear anymore in his competitors.  They all feel that they can beat him.

@C-Diddy  Take a deep breath and calm down.  It was a stress fracture, not a broken leg.  It certainly wasn't shattered!  Very, very difficult to play on and no doubt very painful, but certainly doable.  Back problems are an entirely different matter.  He's dealing with a pinched nerve, not back spasms.  Pinched nerves are incredibly painful and can completely immobilize a person if severe enough.  I've had it happen to me due to an injury.  Laid me out on the floor.

nope..most of the golfers doesn't have the same aura as the 'Wood' man.  Boring...... how much can you talk about the 'swing' here or there.....

Roger Garcia,

Does hiding behind a mask make it easier for you to make disparaging comments?

Is that Sergio Garcia behind the black mask?
